O Gallery is pleased to present a new collection of works by Ali Nassir (b. 1951 Tehran), marking the artist’s fourth solo show with the gallery. What stands out at first glance in Nassir’s works are the bright and luminous colors executed on both works on paper and canvases. On a closer look; however, the elements and the way they are scattered or grouped together on the surface, their relationship to one another and the act of painting itself become of the most important essence. Inspired by every day life, literature, cinema and trivial events, may it be a news clip or a personal encounter; an image of a pop star on the news or historical references such as the beheading of Holofernes, they all turn into Nassir’s own rich experiential encounters rather than merely presenting a quantum of information, illustrating the artist’s concepts of beauty, life and death.
