O Gallery presents the “Abstraction of Nomadism”, Niloofar Lohrasbi’s (b. 1984, Tehran) second solo show with the gallery.
The nomadic lifestyle with its uncontrollable and unlimited qualities is in contrast with the sedentary lifestyle; as the two can be interpreted as “outdoor” and “indoor” spaces. Metaphorically, the difference between the two lifestyles can be compared to the difference between felt and fabric: felt as a mass of intertwined wool which is expandable from all sides, and fabric, with its vertical and horizontal structure and warp and weft as its component, which is limited at least from one direction.
In the collection on display, inspired by the visual aspects of Nomadic lifestyle (such as the desert, the vast horizon, natural colors and materials), the artist tries to emphasize on an abstract perception of this lifestyle.
In this context, rather than lines being made by the joining of dots, what’s at emphasis is the creation of dots through the crossing of lines.
