O Gallery Presents “No Past, No Present, No Future” a solo show by Arya Tabandehpoor (b. 1985 Tehran), focusing on the artist’s personal experiences.
This collection of works—created over the past four years—explores themes of loss and decline, building upon Tabandehpoor’s previous projects and serving as an epilogue to those series. The events of recent years, his personal experiences and his position on photography have been the driving forces behind this collection.
The media used in his works consist of three main elements: photography, robotic movements and cropped photos. C-print reflects Tabandehpoor’s deep connection to photography and act as a unifying thread across his series.
For Tabandehpoor, form and concept are intrinsically linked, accompanied by contemplative techniques. Despite these thoughtful processes, he avoids prescribing any messages or morals to his audience. Instead, he invites viewers to explore the works independently, allowing their own perceptions and imaginations to shape their experience within the exhibition space.
Tabandehpoor acknowledges the early influences of Bita Fayyazi and Farshid Azarang on his artistic journey. However, in recent years, his work has shifted, drawing inspiration from electronic and industrial processes.
This is how he explains his mindset:
“As long as we live in a society, its influences inevitably shape our artworks.
The challenges and mistakes in this process don’t deter me—I don’t dwell on overcoming them; I accompany them.
I consider a project complete when it has evolved into a new idea. However, it starts a new role in each new context. Whether displayed on a gallery wall, residing in a collector’s home or stored in a studio, every piece begins a new chapter.”
