A Thousand Shards of Silence

Press Release

“A Thousand Shards of Silence” is an installation of stones by Sara Assareh (b. 1988 Tehran) that conveys the artist’s experience of the gradual, quiet collapse of a steadfast, resilient individual under the constant pressures and erosions of time passage.

Here, the artist has not sought to reconstruct the past, but rather to confront directly what has been lost, gathering the remnants of that collapse together. This body of work captures the moment when the fall comes to an end and the act of witnessing begins. Perhaps standing before these works becomes a reflection of the fragmented self and part of the process of recognition and re-creation—a way of living amid ruin and being conscious of it.
