O Gallery presents "Impasse", a collection of recent works on paper by Ensieh Akbarzadeh (b. 1981, Tabriz).
In the collection on display, by removing the element of color and limiting herself to hatching, accretion and repetition of lines, Ensieh Akbarzadeh has created a vast variation of gray spaces inline with her conceptual outline.
The "Impasse" collection is a representation of plight and predicament in a space that progression and movement is either impossible or reduced to minimum. Impasse does not necessarily belong to present time and may refer to past and continue in the future as well. Repetition, intensity, entanglement, and accumulation of rocks and thorns, along with their intimidating and threatening quality, dominate the moving elements such as horse and raven, transforming them to passive or mutilated objects.
