For the upcoming edition of the Armory Show, O Gallery is pleased to present a selection by six of its artists whose practices reflect the understanding of perception by Maurice Merleau-Ponty. 

In his 1945 book “Phenomenology of Perception”, Maurice Merleau-Ponty argues that the body is not merely an object situated in space—it is the very starting point for our perception of space. In other words, space is not simply a neutral or objective set of coordinates; it is a lived space—a space that acquires meaning through the body, personal and historical experience.
