Sina Boroumandi at "erased but not forgotten: carrying the weight of the invisible" — a Group Exhibition at SOIL Art Gallery

A series of photographs by Sina Boroumandi (b. 1980 Tehran) is currently on display as part of the group exhibition “erased but not forgotten: carrying the weight of the invisible” at SOIL Art Gallery in Seattle. 
Curated by Mahsa Soroudi and Parisa Ghaderi, the exhibition brings together five Iranian artists living and working both in Iran and across the diaspora to examine the fragile space between remembering and forgetting. Rather than focusing on historical events themselves, the exhibition reflects on their emotional aftermath, exploring memory as an act of preservation, confrontation, survival, and healing. Boroumandi's photographic practice investigates the unstable relationship between perception and memory by layering the negative and positive of the same image, creating fractured landscapes that reveal how memory is continuously reconstructed rather than preserved. Produced in Tehran between June 2025 and February 2026, during a period marked by war, mass violence, and prolonged communication blackouts, the series bears witness to the physical and psychological transformation of the city while asking what remains when both places and memories begin to change.
