O Gallery presents “The Others”, Alireza Chalipa’s (b. 1984 Shiraz) seventh solo show.
"The Others" includes thirteen oil paintings in dimensions varying from 50x60 cm to 116x140 cm. In his works, human/non-human figures and elements, often familiar in today’s life, have depicted understandable relationships between the characters of each image as well as human relationships in internal and external views with precision, skill and with the texture and pattern of expression cultivated by the artist.
In "The Others", realism and surrealism come together to visualize the unsaid in the language of images for the viewer. Along with the relatively recognizable and tangible elements of the works, there is a visualization of a living being, changed, transformed or metamorphosed. Altered into a plant, a leaf. A plant that has grown in the form of a human or a human that has transformed into a plant. It exists in an unfamiliar, yet familiar environment. Somewhere in the process of growing, grown and mature, and lifelessness. There is also a recognized and natural connection between the figures and these transformed beings. A plausible communication for the audience. As if it’s the natural course of life. There is no surprise, no complaint. No fear, no rejection. This being is not a stranger. This transformation is familiar.
