O Gallery presents “Square”, Pooyan Hashemi Tari’s (b. 1981 Tehran) first solo exhibition.
The works on display consist of several videos, a device and some prints, created in the span of three years. What brings together all these pieces is the common experience of “body-mind” in relation to “space-place”. In this experience, the subject is placed in a threshold position with what surrounds it and thus redefines its tense relationship to its surroundings. During this experience, not only does the body-mind reach a new perception of itself, but also the space-place appears in a different meaningful form. In this collection, by dealing with such an experience both individually and collectively, the artist evokes a certain relationship between bodies and minds in a more public setting such as squares. Independently and in dialogue with one another, the works in this collection allow the audience to have a body mind experience in a threshold of space and place once again.
