O Gallery presents “Facade” a collection of works on paper by Ali Roustaeeyanfard (b. 1975 Tehran).
Time connects us to every phenomenon in its validity. We tend to preserve the things to which we assign value to in our everyday lives; abandonment is associated with forgetting and remembering is associated with conservation. Memory and history together lead to the acceptance of the value of a place, and in places that have a social significance, this value is directly related to the collective memory that it inspires.
In the collection on display, Ali Roustaeeyanfard tries to pin down an aesthetic perception of historical buildings’ metamorphosis and the struggle against the oblivion of history through a personal expedition in the liminal space between history and memory, or rather between the immutable event and changing interpretation.
