Press Release
O Gallery presents "The Nobles of Paradise", Zahra Shahcheraghi’s (b. 1989 Tehran) third solo show with the gallery.
In continuation of her previous shows, Shahcheraghi focuses on women as the main subject of her works. Influenced by the beauty and societal positions of women, the artist has created the works on display. To accelerate the visualization of her ideas, she uses oil pastel and acrylic on different media. She doesn’t determine the dimensions of her works in advance; instead, she utilizes whatever is available in her studio. At the same time, by painting on very large canvases, the artist challenges her abilities in painting. She uses color stains freely to create bodily and seductive gestures. The color palette is often bright and vibrant. The black lines don’t serve as separating boundaries, but as intentional dark tones to add depth and contrast. "Noble of Paradise", on one hand presents abstract works that draw from abstract expressionism, and on the other, reflect the reality of life for a fragment of society.
