Press Release
O Gallery presents "Territory - To Live", Ali Vaziri’s (b. 1986 Mashhad) third solo show with the gallery.
In continuation of his previous exhibitions, Vaziri, in search of his personal expression, has drawn from a wide range of visual experiences. In this exhibition, he still presents a form of imagery through his sculptural expression. The linear volumes placed on the wall, with the quality of their lines, create frames that draw us inward, allowing for exploration from various angles. This exploration, on one hand, makes us aware of simple behaviors in nature, such as gathering or the accumulated piles of wood, and on the other hand, frames all of them under the concept of territory. A territory that, in the struggle between humans and existence, constantly reminds the artist that he himself is a part of existence. In another part of this collection, there are volumes or, as the artist calls them, “Figurative Forms”. Root-like forms that simultaneously evoke the human figure and represent the concept of territory; roots that understand the boundary of their world as embodied and in the struggle of playing with existence, either grow larger and expand or lose part of their body to existence.
