O Gallery presents “Suspension Time, Exterior View”, a series of monochrome paintings, mezzotints and monotypes by Shirin Heidarinezhad (b. 1990 Bushehr, Iran).
The collection on display has developed over the past four years since Heidarinezhad’s inaugural show at the gallery. Similar to her previous show, these 20 landscapes, are small in scale; however, this collection also includes two horizontally extended pieces in acrylic and ink on fabric, through which she seeks to envelop viewers.
Continuing the trajectory of her earlier work, the artist depicts shadow and obscurity through familiar yet unsettling landscapes that gradually lose their resemblance. Working with the least light possible, her techniques enable her to penetrate the layered depths of the veiled atmospheres she seeks. Through these printmaking techniques, the scenes take on a distinctive quality: the absence of superfluous details shifts attention to the core of the space—abandoned spaces, partially glimpsed structures, railings, and bridges seemingly adrift in emptiness. The coarse textures and deep darkness not only define the visual form but also suggest suspension and the slow wearing of time. The result is an atmosphere that feels heavy, or at times pierced by a faint glimmer in the dark, holding the viewer in quiet anticipation.
