O Gallery is pleased to present “Staccato”, a long-awaited collection of works by Afshan Daneshvar (b. 1972 Tehran, Iran - lives and works in SF, USA), marking her first solo exhibition at the gallery—eight years after her last show in Tehran.
Developed since 2023, the collection on display continues Daneshvar’s focused explorations with paper over the past decade. “Staccato” is a fractured dialogue between razor blades and the various kinds of paper—book pages, newspapers, handmade papers, etc. The juxtaposition of the razor with the paper enables this artist’s tool to transcend its function, entering the realm of subject and asserting itself as material.
Through this intense physical engagement, Daneshvar redefines paper, elevating a common material to a complex site of investigation and meaning.
