Press Release
This exhibition is part of “Manzar Projects,” an initiative formed to present documentary photography projects, selected and guided by Mehdi Vosoughnia.
The works on display were created between 2018 and 2024 as part of the documentary photography workshops at “Manzar Studio.” Each project began with a question, an experience, or a personal encounter, and developed through a process of photography, editing and rethinking toward an independent narrative.
The projects in this exhibition cover a diverse range of subjects, making it difficult to bring them together under a single framework. From a broader perspective; however, each reflects some of the concerns of our time and forms a piece of the puzzle that is today’s “Situation.” Amidst rapid and profound social transformations, these projects offer a visual perspective on different aspects of what the photographers have encountered in their lives. In this sense, not only the final result but also the path that each project has taken becomes important.
Due to space limitations, it was not possible to present the projects in their entirety. For this reason, a significant number of the works have been presented in the form of zines, allowing the audience to gain a more complete picture of each project. At the same time, each zine functions as a paper archive: a small document that preserves the photographer’s personal perspective and experience of a moment in the contemporary social history of Iran.
