Press Release
“Rooms of Light” takes shape through the coming together of independent worlds, each seeking its own way of seeing, remembering and remembering and remaining. This exhibition does not attempt to arrive at a single image through the photographs; rather, its meaning emerges through the distances, continuities and connections formed between the works. Each gaze extends another: at times in proximity, at times in silence and sometimes within a suspended space between staying and leaving.
Each work carries traces of an experience: a residue of memory, presence and the attempt to find an anchor amid constant transformation. At a time when belonging, stability and certainty have become increasingly fragile, these photographs hold onto moments of living; moments in stillness does not signify permanence, but the act of continuing.
What remains through the relationship between these works is a quiet yet enduring presence; one that passes through restlessness and pushes back against the darkness around it.
“Rooms of Light” poses on a single question: what is it that, despite the passage of time, still lives within us?
