Iman Rezai
Bio
Iman Rezai (b. 1981 Shiraz) is an Iranian artist currently based in Berlin, Germany. Having studied Fine Arts in Tokyo, London and later Berlin, he has developed a practice that is as intellectual as it is visceral. His work operates in the realm of the provocative, the conceptual and the politically charged. His past works—such as the controversial Execution Machine Project, which questioned the mechanisms of democracy—exemplify his bold, experimental nature. Working across media, from mixed media compositions to sculptural interventions, Rezai pushes boundaries, challenging the viewer’s role in systems of power, violence and moral ambiguity. He has participated in many group exhibitions in Germany, Japan, Ukraine and Iran since 2009 and has recently showcased a new body of work in Berlin’s Paper Positions Art Fair.
