Aylar Dastgiri

Aylar Dastgiri’s (b. 1988 Tehran) practice questions the qualities that make a work of art closer to the assets imagined for a painting. Dastgiri tries to address this concern through anticipating three-dimensional possibilities in two-dimensional surfaces, finding features of two-dimensional imagery in how through forms in the process of creating an artwork and challenging different ways of seeing paintings in combination with the environment. Dastgiri recieved her BA in sculpture from Art University of Tehran in 2012 and has held three solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Tehran, Shiraz, Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, Oslo and Brooklyn.
